ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY

Any athlete who won a medal in their local 2009 or 2010 State Games, or the 2009 State Games of America, in one of the sports offered in 2011, is eligible to compete. If an athlete wins a medal in their local State Games in 2011 before the entry deadline for State Games of America, they are eligible.

2011 State Games of America will be combined with the California State Games. In addition to the eligible athletes listed above, any resident of the state of California for at least 30 days prior to the first day of competition is eligible to compete. Some sports have pre-qualifying criteria for California residents who did not qualify in 2009 or 2010.

CODE OF BEHAVIOR
I will follow and abide by the rules, policies, and code of conduct of the 2011 State Games of America. I recognize my responsibility to demonstrate good character, integrity, and sportsman-like conduct. I agree that I will not violate the rules of my sport or the event, use performance-enhancing substances or methods, engage in abusive language, or disrespect the volunteers, officials, coaches or my fellow competitors. I further agree that any such unsportsmanlike conduct may result in my disqualification from the 2011 State Games of America.

Age and Skill level Requirements
All athletes must match the age and skill level requirements for their sport. Each sport has its own defined age and skill levels.

The State Games of America have been organized in accordance with National Governing Bodies guidelines with some exceptions. Athletes who have eligibility questions should check with their school athletic administrator or coach. Any athlete with scholastic or collegiate eligibility remaining must comply with rules governing his or her scholastic or collegiate eligibility.

Age Determination
For all sports, you must register at your CURRENT level and age group as defined by each sport. For example, if you qualified as a 9 & under team in 2009, you may be an 11 & under team for the 2011 State Games of America. Age determining dates for each sport are listed under the individual sports page.

Roster Changes
For team sports, you are allowed up to 50% of your roster to change from the year you qualified for the State Games of America.

INSURANCE COVERAGE
The State Games of America has a General Liability Policy for the Games. This insurance covers medical costs only when accident or injury is caused by our negligence. It is expressly understood that this insurance does not cover property loss or damage to the participant or medical costs if an accident or injury occurs during the normal routine of competition or during travel to and from competition. EACH PARTICIPANT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS/HER OWN MEDICAL INSURANCE.
